Scripture Reading: Luke 4:18-19

Scripture is God breathed and true. When we memorize it, we carry the good news of Jesus with us wherever we go.

Over the course of this reading plan, we will memorize Luke 4:18–19, a passage from the prophet Isaiah that Jesus quoted while teaching in the synagogue. This week we will memorize the first portion of verse 18.

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,

because he has anointed me

to preach good news to the poor.

He has sent me

to proclaim release to the captives

and recovery of sight to the blind,

to set free the oppressed,

19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
