Day 18

Something New Has Come

from the reading plan

Colossians 1:15-20, John 1:1-4, John 1:14, Matthew 1:18-23, John 14:1-11, Philippians 2:5-11

In light of the day’s reading, pause to reflect on the specific areas you long to see made new and how Jesus’s ministry calls us to join in that restoration. Let these shape your prayers today.

God came from His domain into ours in the incarnation. Jesus, in both divinity and humanity, brought heaven to earth in coming to us Himself.

After you’ve read, spend some time in prayer about the reality that Jesus has come to us. Comment/share with the community anything that stood out to you or encouraged you from the reading or your time in prayer.

We are so very blessed to have Jesus. I thank God for His son always. God’s love for us is so great it is hard to phantom. Thank you God for Jesus and the Holy Spirit. May we walk each day in goodness and humbly share the good news!

The passage in Philippians 2 struck me anew today as I pondered Jesus taking human form. He easily could have come as a mighty warrior or an all-powerful spirit and offered salvation in that form. Instead, he came as a lowly carpenter’s son in a backwater province. The compassion and consideration to come to earth in such a humble position, one similar to what many of His followers, then and now, face themselves, was a beautiful act of pure love. What a wonderful God we serve!
