Set Apart in Christ

from the reading plan

1 Peter 1:13-20, 2 Timothy 1:9, 1 John 1:5-10, 1 John 2:1-6, 1 John 3:7-10, Romans 8:29, Ephesians 5:1-17, Leviticus 20:26, Isaiah 26:2

Since 2015, He Reads Truth has maintained a singular mission: to be men in the Word of God every day. Seven years later, our community includes “Hes” from across the globe, but our mission hasn’t changed.

Reading Scripture together is the centerpiece of what we do at He Reads Truth. As we spend time as a community reading This Is The Church, we encourage you to start by reading the daily Scripture on your  own. Then join us here to engage and encourage one another as we respond to what we’ve read. Each day for this series, we’ll include a brief summary of the reading along with a prompt for conversation.

In Christ, the people of the Church are holy, set apart for a purpose. We are called to pursue lives of holiness as a changed people.

Discussion Question: What attributes of God stand out to you in today’s reading?

Take time to reflect on your Scripture reading and today’s question. Share what you are learning with others in the community in the comments.

  1. Mike G says:

Today’s reading reminds me to be ever more diligent in pursuing a walk like Jesus. Thankful to be part of the body I am continually working on my sanctification, ever striving to be more loving, patient, kind and humble. That is our calling to let Jesus abide in us with everything we do. Thank God for his endless mercies and grace for no matter how hard I try I always have room for improvement.

  2. Ben says:

God paid the highest ransom when he sent his son to die for our sin. Because of this truth, sin in my life should produce a Godly sorrow that spurs me to repentance out of obedience and thankfulness to my Savior. How sweet it is to be loved by a heavenly Father who would do such a thing for me – My primary goal in this life needs to be continually striving to give back to Him by becoming more like His son Jesus.

  3. David G says:

In reading I John 2:1 I was reminded and humbled that we have a gracious advocate in Jesus. He is for us, and my response to that fact should be nothing short of a daily striving towards holiness.

  4. Joshua says:

Today I felt a conviction in my heart about my walk with God. Although I haven’t turned away from God, my attention is not fully on Him. The people around me do not see me as they should, as a believer and follower of Christ. My words and behaviors are not consistently mirroring Christ and I have dedicated myself to turning that around. I am thankful that I can immerse myself back into the Word and build up my desire and dedication to Him.
