Day 1

The People of God

from the reading plan

Romans 9:6-8, Romans 9:14-26, Romans 9:30-33, Hebrews 11:1-40, 2 Timothy 2:19, 1 Peter 2:9-10

Since 2015, He Reads Truth has maintained a singular mission: to be men in the Word of God every day. Seven years later, our community includes “Hes” from across the globe, but our mission hasn’t changed.

Reading Scripture together is the centerpiece of what we do at He Reads Truth. As we spend time as a community reading This Is The Church, we encourage you to start by reading the daily Scripture on your  own. Then join us here to engage and encourage one another as we respond to what we’ve read. Each day for this series, we’ll include a brief summary of the reading along with a prompt for conversation.

God’s people are all those who know Him by faith. Everyone reconciled to God in Christ shares in this legacy of faith as Abraham’s spiritual descendants, regardless of ethnicity or nationality.

This Monday, we’ll start the week off by getting to know the global HRT community. How long have you been reading with He Reads Truth?

Take time to respond to today’s reading and question by sharing with the community in the comments.

I love this website! I cannot remember how long I have been reading “He Reads Truth”, it has been many years. My church website had a link that I followed years ago and have been reading daily since. I very much enjoy the variety of men and how they share their personal experiences and how scripture has helped guide there lives. Thanks for all the sharing and time you take to make this a great way to commune with God.

I started this year, not sure of the exact date (February?) I use the daily reading as part of my quiet time and reading scripture of God’s Word. Thank you!

Probably around 2017…was in a Men’s Bible Study group and one of the other guys introduced me to He Reads Truth. Now it’s a daily habit.

I started reading in 2016. I’m very thankful to have HRT as a resource for my daily quiet time.

I began with the 2017 Advent reading and have been reading ever since.

I started using HRT as my daily devotional Summer of 2021. Love it!

  12. John N says:

I’ve been reading for about 6 Months. I use HRT during my daily quiet time. I’m a pastor and many times the Holy Spirit finds ways of weaving some of my thoughts, sparked by the scripture discussion, into my Sunday morning messages.

  13. Brandon says:

I’ve been reading HRT for a number of years and it has helped tremendously as far as staying consistently in the Word. Thanks to all who makes this available!

  14. Dave says:

I don’t know exactly, but my wife and I started with Advent several years ago (7+?). We’ve done several studies since then, including the Advent yearly since we started.

  15. Roger Gadsden says:

Started in 2015 and began by reading SRT with my wife and continue to do so. Then HRT notes when they started.
Starting this new Study I notice that the United Kingdom is third in the table of those he use these studies, are there any thoughts from the team of those of us getting together with each other here in the UK?
Thank you for such an amazing resource. One of our daughters first introduced us to SRT.

  16. Rich says:

Hello, everyone! I’ve been reading these plans on and off for a few years now. I’m thankful for what HRT brings us daily and the thought-provoking devotions that accompany the daily reading. I am excited to be a part of the community!

  17. Joshua Sanchez says:

I’m not sure how long I have been reading HRT, but I do know that doing so has helped me grow in my relationship with God. I want to do better with staying in the Word.

  18. Mark says:

Started almost at the beginning. Was always a bit jealous of my wife’s reading on SRT. Thankful it expanded to HRT. This has been foundational to my personal quiet time and also very easy way to invite other men into understanding the importance of being “a man of the Word every day!”. Thank you for your team.

  19. Tim Ferret says:

Read the Advent this year, and now starting again with this Church devo. I enjoyed the foundational readings for today, it was intriguing to be reading the Romans 9 passages about God hardening hearts, and making some people for “common purposes”. Nobody seemed to comment on that yet, but it’s a pretty challenging piece of Scripture tucked into the thoughts about the church…

  20. Daniel says:

I’ve been reading HRT since early 2020 and love being able to read the same scriptures as my wife, and get a different perspective in the devotional. We struggled to do devotions as a couple reading from the same book/guide, but HRT/SRT has worked very well, because our focus is on the Bible, not a human author. We have had many great discussions about what we’ve read and how it applies to us, our family, and our community!

  22. Larry Kotlarz says:

I think I’ve been reading this for around five years now. Incredible truths and teaching. Thank you so much for this ministry it’s been such a blessing to me!

  23. Christopher Dockter says:

I’ve been doing it since like March of this year I remember starting with the armor of God plan

  24. Tim G says:

Good morning brothers. My wife first found “She Reads Truth”, and then brought it to me. My 1st experience with HRT was when we, together, went thru the 40 day Lent devotion covering Ezekiel. Each day we’d read the scripture together then take turns reading and discussing the HRT or SRT devotion of the day. It was a wonderful experience and brought us closer to each other, and God, as we celebrated the season.

  25. Adam says:

I have been reading the plans off and on at HRT for about 7 years now. I have really enjoyed every plan that I have read thus far. Everything has been impactful in my walk with God. Furthermore, there has been a plan for just about every season of life.
