The Third Sunday of Advent

Isaiah 42:1

BY He Reads Truth

O Morning Star,
splendour of light eternal and sun of righteousness:
Come and enlighten those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.

O King of the nations, and their desire,
the cornerstone making both one:
Come and save the human race,
which you fashioned from clay.

“This is my servant; I strengthen him,
this is my chosen one; I delight in him.
I have put my Spirit on him;
he will bring justice[a] to the nations”.

—Isaiah 42:1

    All inclusive. It jumps right off the page. Jesus was a gift to the world to everyone, for everyone – still is. Doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done, or where you live. You don’t need to get your life in order to receive Him. In joy, in pain, in light, in dark, and especially in sin and shame, turn to Him, always.

    The Gospel is so big – the Kingdom of God is near – but it is so personal, we tend to shrink it down into a small little box we keep in a drawer. It’s safer that way. We take it out and look at it when it’s convenient. My prayer is that we all, especially myself, pull that Gospel out. Open the box and let it be all that it can be in our lives and the lives of those around us. That He will take away any pain, awkwardness, and hesitancy that led us to put it in the box in the first place. Let it radiate through our lives and they may know us by our love.

    What an incredible thing that God has a plan for justice for the nations. He could just give up on us, wipe the slate clean and start over. Instead He executes a plan to redeem us all through the sacrifice of His Son.
