Day 8

The Second Sunday of Advent

Isaiah 22:22

O Root of Jesse, standing as a sign among the peoples;
before you kings will shut their mouths,
to you the nations will make their prayer:
Come and deliver us, and delay no longer.

O Key of David and sceptre of the House of Israel;
you open and no one can shut;
you shut and no one can open:
Come and lead the prisoners from the prison house,
those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death.

“I will place the key of the house of David on his shoulder; what he opens, no one can close; what he closes, no one can open.” —Isaiah 22:22

  1. Justin says:

    We have a Savior who came and who has been given all authority. His hand to rescue is not weak, but more than able. There is no opposition that can undo what He has done. He lifts us up out of the muck and His salvation is final. We can feel secure under His wings knowing His promise for us is to be a people loved by Him.

  2. Justin Harger says:

    A great reminder of exactly who Jesus is. He is eternal with a lineage that is known. Placed on earth at the exact right time to return at the exact right time. Designated by God. He is the fulfillment of the covenant with David and ruler of Jerusalem. While a part of the trinity, He is singular too. Opening doors that no one can close – salvation. And closing doors that no one can open – condemnation through sin.

    Our Savior, Our Brother, Our Friend.

  3. 144 Man says:

    Oh Lord. Shut the door to fear in my life. Increase my faith. Show me You are with me daily. 144!

  4. Sean says:

    Jesus has the key to the Book of Life.
