Grace Day

from the 1 & 2 Timothy and Titus reading plan

Hebrews 6:17-19

Use this day to pray, rest, and reflect on this week’s reading, giving thanks for the grace that is ours in Christ.

Because God wanted to show his unchangeable purpose even more clearly to the heirs of the promise, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to seize the hope set before us. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
—Hebrews 6:17-19

These verses remind me of what Noel was sharing today at the meeting with Shane, Kevin, and Jim.
God’s promises to us are so true, so unchangeable. The purpose God has for our lives is an unchangeable promise. And to even further prove that we can rest and rely on God’s word and his purpose for us, he made a covenant promise and told us that he would pay the cost of either of us didn’t hold up our end of the bargain. That brings tears to my eyes nearly every time I think about it. That God made a promise with us and said that he would pay the cost if we didn’t hold up our end of the bargain. If God is faithful to his side of the covenant, and if he pays the cost and fills every gap when we fail, there is no way his purpose for us will not be fulfilled.
