Day 7

Weekly Truth

from the Esther reading plan

Esther 4:14

Memorizing Scripture is a way to carry God’s Word with you wherever you go, keeping God-breathed instruction, reproof, and truth in your heart and mind each day.

As we read through the book of Esther, we will memorize the book’s key verse in two parts. We’ll begin with the first part of the verse—a reminder that God’s sovereignty does not depend on us.

“If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jewish people from another place, but you and your father’s family will be destroyed.”
—Esther 4:14a

Write this passage down, keep it in your wallet, post it on your mirror or at your desk — anywhere you will see it often. Save the image below as a lock screen on your phone so you can read these words throughout the day.

There is such a thing as personal responsibility.

Esther is told that God’s plan does not depend on her, but that if she doesn’t do it she will suffer the consequences.

It’s not a threat as much as a truth. If you abdicate responsibility then you must suffer the consequences of your actions. The ball will keep rolling with, or without, you.
