Weekly Truth

from the James reading plan

James 1:4

Memorizing Scripture is a way to carry God’s Word with you wherever you go, keeping God-breathed instruction, reproof, and truth in your heart and mind each day.

As we study James, we are memorizing the book’s key verses together, James 1:2-4. This week, we’ll memorize verse 4, which focuses on the effect of enduring in Christ.

And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.
– James 1:4

To me, this verse means to not shirk or run away from trial and adversity, rather to embrace the hardships of this world with the proper perspective; that God in His infinite wisdom is allowing me to suffer in the present moment so that I may grow and mature into a better, more complete, and more whole man for Him.
