Grace Day

from the James reading plan

Galatians 5:22-23

Take this day as an opportunity to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.
– Galatians 5:22-23

Today was the first day I have really rested on self control in this verse. I am always going above and beyond for others to the detriment of my family and so many others. A brother in Christ points out my sin of overcommitment long ago and I was angry at him for saying it at the time but now know he was right. Let my yes be yes and no be no. Don’t be afraid to say no to something when it is too much or cause sacrifice of good things. Not every project that comes along has to be yours. Pray and seek before speaking or committing. Self control.
