Day 7

Weekly Truth

from the reading plan

Isaiah 40:8

Memorizing Scripture is a way to carry God’s Word with you wherever you go, keeping God-breathed instruction, reproof, and truth in your heart and mind each day.

This week, we’re memorizing a verse about the permanence of God and His Word:

The grass withers, the flowers fade,
but the word of our God remains forever.
– Isaiah 40:8

Write this passage down, keep it in your wallet, post it on your mirror or at your desk — anywhere you will see it often. Save the image below as a lock screen on your phone so you can read these verses throughout the day.

  1. Justin says:

The Word of God remains forever.

It has no need of being changed, updated, or redacted. The Bible reveals Jesus (John 1) and is useful for training in godliness (1 Tim 3:16). When I struggle to find objective truth, the fact that the Bible is unchanging and the will of God has existed since the beginning of time gives me hope and a foundation on which to stand.

In 2017, my resolution is to be more in love with Jesus than I was last year. My goals are to continue to read Scripture daily and to start memorizing passages – a practice I’ve neglected as an adult. It’s fitting that the first reading of HRT in 2017 is memorizing Isaiah 40:8.

God, help to me memorize and hide your Word in my heart in this new year. Whatever happens, I know that your Word is trustworthy and remains forever.

“The grass withers, the flowers fade but the Word of our God remains forever.”
    Isaiah 40:8

  2. Adam Freeman says:

No matter what gods good word will always be there. We will always have it to look upon no mater the situation.
