Day 22

Fourth Sunday of Advent

from the reading plan

Zechariah 9:9

BY He Reads Truth

Memorizing Scripture is one way to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, our perfect King. This week, we will memorize this verse of celebration that our King has come:

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
—Zechariah 9:9

Write this verse down in a place where you’ll see it often, or save the image below as your phone’s lock screen so you can read it throughout the day. As you memorize this verse, give thanks to God for the gift of His Son, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

  1. Ken Fuller says:

Read this morning in devotions: “And again when He [God] brought the Firstborn into the inhabited world, He said, “And all the angels of God must now kneel before Him.””

What a picture that is! At the birth of Messiah Y’shua, all the angels in heaven knelt before the newborn King. If this called for their worship, it must surely call for ours as we remember the occasion of His birth!

  2. Scott Schulman says:

Christ has come and is coming again! I want to be looking forward to that day like I look forward to Christmas morning.
