Day 7

Weekly Truth

from the Hosea reading plan

Hosea 6:3

Memorizing Scripture is a way to carry God’s Word with you wherever you go, keeping God-breathed instruction, reproof, and truth in your heart and mind each day. This week, we’re memorizing a verse that reminds us of God’s faithfulness:

Let us strive to know the Lord.
His appearance is as sure as the dawn.
He will come to us like the rain,
like the spring showers that water the land.
— Hosea 6:3

Write this verse down, keep it in your wallet, post it on your mirror or at your desk — anywhere you will see it often. Save the image below as a lock screen on your phone so you can read the verse throughout the day.

I love the picture of God painted by Hosea in chapter 6 verse 3. He says God is like the rain; like spring showers. Hosea was prophesying to a nation who had known God but wandered away from Him for a couple generations. Israel was in a spiritual drought. We can feel like that too from time to time. I’ve been in that place before. Reading God’s word after a long time away from it can feel as good as spring showers for my soul. Getting back in the daily rhythm of devoted time with God has a way of healing the broken parts of my heart.

This verse is helpful in reminding that God will always be there for us. He is as constant as the spring showers. You never have to worry if He’ll be there or not. Also it tells us to keep pressing forward in our pursuit to follow the Lord. I love the “let us press on” part. We definitely have to press forward to know Jesus.
