Day 21

Weekly Truth

from the Acts of the Apostles reading plan

Acts 17:26

Memorizing scripture is a way to carry God’s Word with you wherever you go, keeping God-breathed instruction, reproof, and truth in your heart and mind each day.

As we read through Acts, we are memorizing a 6-verse passage, Acts 17:24-29, from Paul’s eloquent yet succinct presentation of the gospel to the Greek philosophers at the Areopagus. By memorizing one verse per week of the study, we will have all six verses memorized by the end. Here is this week’s verse:

From one man He has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live.
–Acts 17:26

Write this verse down, keep it in your wallet, post it on your mirror or at your desk — anywhere you will see it often. Save the image below as a lock screen on your phone so you can read the verse throughout the day.

This teaches me that God is in control. He made us with a purpose and gave us boundaries of what we can do and where we can go. He gave us this earth, no matter how broken now, for us to populate and enrich and take care of. Our God is a good God.

  2. Andy Abelein says:

Man is not meant to be in total control of himself. God gave us bounds and it is not smart for us to try and break them. Man is made to be reliant on God, not ourselves.

  3. Andy Abelein says:

I will respond with thanks and praise, thanking God for all the good things he continues to do in this world and for giving humanity his saving grace.

  4. Andy Abelein says:

This teaches me that the Gospel is truly the most tragic yet most beautiful event to ever happen. God saved his creation. He did not let us just go, but he saved us from ourselves.

  5. Andy Abelein says:

God, thank you for your love. Thank you for creating me in your image. I’m so so sorry that I have sinned against you to means time again, but God, I am so grateful for your endless grace and mercy. I pray that I would live for you today and every day, and that I would remember what you have done for me. I love you.
