Day 6

Grace Day

from the Mourning and Dancing reading plan

Ecclesiastes 3:1,Ecclesiastes 3:4

Take this day as an opportunity to catch up on your reading, pray, and rest in the presence of the Lord.

Focusing on the first part of verse 4, ask the Holy Spirit for the freedom to weep and to laugh in every season of your life.

There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven:
a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance
-Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

  1. Joel says:

He created people. His omniscience means He knows everything we feel and experience.

His Son Jesus lived life as a human in order that He might feel and experience everything we feel, not because He needed to. He is God after all, but to demonstrate His love to us, as shirt-sighted as we are, to give us compassion and empathy.

  2. Joel says:

    I’m human, I’m broken.

And yet in all the range of emotion, in all the experiences, the highs and lows and the plateaus in between, I’m seen by Jehovah El Roi, the God who sees me.

I’m not told to hide how I feel.

  3. Joel says:

It all the more is the hope of change, the power to replace the often present selfishness that surfaces in the midst of almost every experience I have!

    The gospel is my hope!

  4. Joel says:

Give myself grace. Commit truth to memory to reinforce it. Walk in that extra measure He gives. “When my heart is overwhelmed, please lead me to the rock that is higher than I!”
